The campaign is extended until September 30th, 2022, and the residents of Osaka, Hyogo, Shiga, Mie, Fukui, Nara, and Wakayama prefecture are eligible in addition to Kyoto residents.
With Kyoto’s “Pre-GoTo Travel” campaign (Kyoto Miryoku Saihakken Tabi Project, litterally Kyoto Charm Re-Discovery Trip Project) subsidized by the prefectural government, we are offering a nightly JPY8K package for SOLO travellers who stay three nights at one of the three accommodations below.
This special offer is for the stay until September 30th, 2022, and may be terminated when the nationwide GoTo travel campaign is back live (or on the contrary, the pandemic is back).
In addition to Kyoto residents, residents in Osaka, Hyogo, Shiga, Mie, Fukui, and Wakayama are eligible!

Very thoughtfully designed and decorated home. Has everything you need for daily life and easy access to things around town. I would stay here again! - 2022-07-26
“Really Lovely” Difficult to find better place to stay in Kyoto! Great little house, with everything you can think of, quiet, with a great host. Shimpei has made the place a true perfection. - 2022-05-20
My family (husband and 1.5 yr old) really loved staying in Shimpei place. It was a perfect calming house to counter our busy crazy Tokyo adventure. We really liked that it wasn't in downtown Kyoto and instead it's where Japanese people live, bike, and shop. Even as we were walking down the street a particularly friendly neighbor brought us out a bag of Japan's national fruit, persimmon (and everyone in the area was very friendly). The house itself is very cool and well designed, and highly functional for cooking and relaxing. Shimpei was a great host meeting us at the house, showing us how every device worked, and answering our questions with lightening speed. If you are looking for something a bit more relaxing and authentic than a city center I would highly recommend Shimpei's place. We didn't have a chance to use the bikes, but I think it's fantastic that he offers them as many people bike in the neighborhood (although there was a grocery store just down the block so we walked everywhere with our stroller 😉 ). - 2020-06-16

This home was perfect for my family's one-month stay. The home's owner has thought of so many wonderful details - we were so impressed. It's a modern, cozy, and peaceful home. The kitchen is well equipped for cooking, the bedrooms are very comfortable, the home is clean, and the washer/dryer are high quality. The area is quiet, residential, and very convenient for our slow-paced travel. It had everything we needed within walking or a short bike ride (grocery stores, dollar store, drugstore, restaurants). If we went elsewhere in town we used bikes to get to the subway or commuted into Kyoto along the river. We cannot recommend highly enough. - 2020-06-16

My Pavilion to Arashiyama & Gion (Ryorizuki-no-ie) 京都西院料理好きの家 3LDK-75m2, 1-6 persons 3 min walk from Hankyu Saiin station
This property is a real find. The location is a bit off from central Kyoto, but in time you’ll find the strategic benefits of staying here. There are tons of buses that will take you to the center in a mere few stops; additionally, it’s only one train ride to Arashiyama.
Now, the property itself is truly a gem. From the outside, it is a traditional ‘machiya’ style home. However, the interior has been completely renovated. The modern island kitchen has everything you need to whip up an extravagant meal (sans the cooking skills, that’s up to you). Basic condiments are provided, which is a definite plus.
Bathroom has uber-modern facilities and lots of amenities. Living room has a large screen television. My favorite corner of the house was the wood deck terrace where you can enjoy breakfast, and the tearoom in front of the small garden.
Second floor has 2 bedrooms, in addition to an open space that can accommodate an extra bed.
I’d definitely come back again. Wonderful! - 2022-03-27
